I have downloaded itunes U podcasts, but they do not show on my 6th gen ipod nano. Can anyone tell me whether I need to do something special, or whether they simply can't be played on the nano?

How did you download them to your Nano? Do they iTunes U episodes appear under the podcasts section of your iTunes library or the iTunes U section?

I downloaded in itunes - and synced my nano, but the itunes u episodes are not showing on my nano. I cannot play them on my nano; only on my computer.
Are these iTunes U episodes videos? If so, they will not be able to sync to your device as video playback is not supported on the 6G Nano.

Some if not all the itune u podcasts are offered as either video or audio and I thought that might be the problem. However, I opened one in windows media player and it was just audio.
Did you configure these iTunes U episodes to sync to your iPod from under the iPod's iTunes U configuration tab in iTunes? To access this tab, plug your iPod in and select it from under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes to bring yourself to the Summary tab. Then locate iTunes U along the top and select it. Here you can configure how and what iTunes U content syncs to your device.
If you do happen to make any changes from under this tab, make sure you click the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to sync the updated changes to your iPod.
iTunes U content can be found on the Nano from the Home Screen or under Music as well.

Thanks! B-rock. I thought I had done that once, but I tried again and discovered I had to be in my ipod area to sync. I also discovered, and this may be the main problem I was having, that I didn't have enough space on my device. But not that I was in the right place, I could choose individual programs.
OOPs!!!!
I was able to sink an itunesu podcast but now all of my podcasts have disappeared from my nano and the itunes u programs are still not there.
So how is your iPod currently set up to sync podcasts and iTunes U content? In other words, what do you have enabled/configured from under each of these tabs at the moment?

Finally figured it out. itunes u has it's own icon separate from the podcast icon. It was turned off on my ipod. I turned it on and I'm ready to to go school now.🙂 I also re-synced the podcasts and they are all back where they're supposed to be.
