What version of the OS is on your Macbook? If you purchased Lion for it at the app store, you will need to erase it - the license is not transferable. If it is Snow Leopard or earlier, you can get replacement install disks by calling Apple and giving them your serial number. They will send replacements for a nominal fee.


Personally, I would never buy any computer without install disks (unless it is a new Mac which came with Lion preinstalled).
