Aperture 3.3 bug? Unable to apply filters to images in book

This seems to be a new problem that cropped up on my dual core iMac only (my workhorse) with 8Gb RAM.

Not on my laptop.

I simply cannot initiate a wash or b&w/sepia filter on an image in a book layout. Nothing even drops down.

Also- on same iMac, images in a book layout do not always update when I apply edits (reminds me of the squashed viewer bug) and crops also do not update appropriately. Again- doesnt seem to happen on laptop (Macbook Pro 15").

Has anyone else noticed this behavior? I filled out a possible bug report for Apple. . . .

MacPro and iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.3), all duo core 2 and above
