We have a new Ipod touch 4g. We have a wifi router in our home. We have to other ipod touches and two iphone that log on with no trouble. I have updated the firmware software on the router and updated and restored the ipod. What else can I try?

Does the iPod see the network?
Are you getting an error message?
DId you restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod?
Try powering off and then back on the router.
It sees the network. I type in the same password as I do for all our orher devices. It just says unable to join. I have restored it to factory. I have powered the router off n back on.
- Does it connect to other networks?
- Since other iPods connect to your network and your powered the router off and back on and restored to factory defaults/new iPod you may have a hardware problem. If it does not connect to other networks time for an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.
The problem could be caused by a firewall in the router. For reasons that I do not understand, that will affect IOS (iPod/iPad) communication but will not affect computers or other devices.
You will need administrative access to the router. If a firewall is present, turn it off and test the iPod again. If it works, turn the firewall back on but weaken it a notch and test the iPod again. Repeat as required.

Two other IOS devices are functioning properly. This solution is not valid. Sorry.

New ipod logs onto other wifi networks no problem.

I am stumped too.
One thing I though of is do you have MAC filtering turned on in the router? MAC filtering only allows devices to connect if the MAC address of the device is added to the router.
No and didnt have to do that to the other devices.
Check the router IP pool. If it is not deep enough (not enough IP address to hand out), no other devices can connect.
In other words, if your router is set to hand out 10 IP addresses from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.12, and you have 11 devices trying to connect, your router cannot give out address 192.168.1.13
I TOO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND FOUND THE SOLUTION!!
Actually what happened first was that my ipod 4g was getting disconnected from my wifi network.. it would connect and when I would go to some app like mail which uses net it would get disconnected. So I was searching for solutions on the net with my mac and resetted network settings and resetted the ipod afterwhich it asked me to enter the password for my wifi network. I entered the correct password a couple of times but each time it would say "Unable to join network xxxx". So while desparately searching for solutions I landed up on this discussion. I did not want to change my router settings as I was afraid it would lead to some other problem because all other devices are getting connected to my network properly. I thought why not try restoring my ipod... so went to iTunes and restored my ipod.. it took roughly 10 minutes and after that my ipod took a couple of minutes to restart. And when it finished I saw the wifi symbol at the top!!! Imagine how I felt at that! I immediately went to safari and typed www.google.com and it was successful!!
