I have tried several times now to backup my iPhone, and it went extremely slowly. After two days it had not finished backing up. I wanted to backup my iPhone so that I could update to iPhone software version 5.1.1. Can you help please?

Thank you Randers4 for your link. Yes I am using Windows. I tried the troubleshooting steps and unfortunately backup was still extremely slow and unfortunately didn't work. I have never backed up my iPhone before but I really want to get my photos backed up more than anything. ITunes recognises my iPhone but unfortunately Windows doesn't recognise it when it's plugged in, so in my computer nothing shows up😟. Any advice?
If you connect the phone to your computer its camera roll should appear as a digital camera; simply copy the photos to your hard drive.
