Why is there a calendar on my Mac in iCal?

I have 15 calendars that I use to keep organized on iCal. Calendars (I use them as "categories" really) such as "Me", "Work", "Home", "Friends", "Cars" etc.

These are all on iCloud and nothing is just "ON MY MAC". BUT BUT - every so often there magically appears a single calendar with the name "Calendar" under the section "ON MY MAC". Why? Can I just delete it? How to find what is on this calendar and where etc. etc.

Thanks for any information as to why this is happening. Lion 10.7.4

On My...is a default calendar within iCal on each device, Mac, iPad, iPhone, etc. On my devices, unless I assign an event to a particular calendar before hitting the final Done, iCal assigns the event to the On My...calendar for the device I am using at the time. You can move the event to another just by clicking the event and then edit and select the appropriate calendar.

At least that is what works for me 🙂

Ralph - Thanks for the superfast and clear reply! Indeed this may be the solution and if so I'll come back and credit you with that!

But just like to leave this question unanswered for a few more (seconds!-- wow fast reply thanks again!)-- to see what others say -- I did a search before submitting but didn't get anything--

I will also check with my iPad (only other devise linked to iCloud at this time).
