can't send receive in outlook

can't send receive in outlook

If my iPone email account is active I then can't send/receive emails on my Desktop Outlook Account.

I am using a POP Account.

Once I deactivate the iPhone Account them my Desktop outlook account works ok.

The iphone is 3G on Software Ver 5.1.1

The Telco Support for the email account are sugesting it's and iphone or outlook issue. They also said they heard of similar issues when the Phone 1st came out. But had no resolution to give me.

Has anyone else had this issue.

Maybe you hacked the IOS?

iPhone 3G can only go up to IOS 4.2.1 not 5.1.1

Thanks for your reply , the phone must be a 3GS then, I am trying to resolve this for a client and I did not have the phone in my hands when I created this query.

Why use POP3 when you want to have access to e-mail from everywhere?

Try delete the account and set it up again (suggestion: use IMAP protocol)

More than likely, the POP account is being locked by your phone, not allowing simultaneous connections from multiple clients. If your mail provider supports IMAP, switch to that. POP is a dinosaur. If they don't, find a provider that does.

Thanks for your tip on IMAP I will give that a try.

BTW it turns out to be a G4 Phone not a 3G or 3GS

Setup manually instead of using outlook or hotmail presets:
After you sign in just modify or create a new outgoing server:
Outgoing (SMTP) Server
- Server address: smtp-mail.outlook.com
- Port: 25 (or 587 if 25 is blocked)
- Authentication: Yes
- Encrypted Connection: TLS
User name: Your email address
Password: Your password
