What if I want to delete a track from iCloud, and keep it locally in iTunes?

I've just read HT4915: iTunes Store: How to delete songs from iCloud. It left me unclear on what to do if I want to KEEP a track locally in iTunes, but delete it from ONLY iCloud.

I guess I could delete from iTunes, check the "delete also from iCloud," and then make sure I Keep The Files—after which I re-add it to my iTunes library. But that seems so kludgy. Do they have a simpler, plainer way? And how do I prevent it from going into iCloud again? Thank you.

Now that I've posted this, the right sidebar "More Like This" includes this question at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4002826, to which Jimzgoldfinch acknowledged with his suggestion (6/4/12), "if you readd to your library files WILL BE rematched… Solution? Create a separate library that is not linked to imatch."

Any other suggestions? I'd like to keep this simple, all in one library. Evidently I want a track-specific option to "Exclude from iMatch."

Other ideas?
