Can iTunes Match match the songs I digitized from LPs?

So I've digitized about 200 LPs or so, and they're all i my iTunes library (in the "original" AIFF files, which are huge) and then as MP3 files.

Can I "upgrade" these tracks via iTunes Match? (I haven't enrolled in iTunes Match yet, so I don't really know how it works. Does it match songs based on the title and artist data or does it actually look at the file and "match" the 1's and 0's?)
