MBP retina display refresh problems

My MacBook Pro Retina Display laptop is having display refresh issues. hard to explain whats going on, but its basicly lagging. When I open a new window, not everything shows up, sometimes only a button will show up. If the whole window does show up and I try to move it, the frame will be ghosted where every I move it. The only way I found to fix this is to restart the computer.

Its completely updated

I tried turning off the automatic graphics switching

I'm having the same issue. It's happened on two different occasions, and I've had to restart the computer to fix the issue. I took some screen shots the last time it happened to me. http://imgur.com/a/W7Z6l

I've had the computer for 3 days as well and it's all up to date.

Also on a sidenote, when I left work I closed the laptop and put it in my bag. When I got home the laptop was extremely hot and I could hear the fans running. I opened the macbook and the screen would not turn on and I had to manually restart it.

Any ideas what it could be?

Suggesting a clean install on a new very, very, very expensive computer is not good. Call Apple NOW. And then if need be insist on a swap or a return.

There are far too many issues with this game changing computer and that's here:

Dull screens

USB 3.0 connection problems

USB 2,.0 connection problems

And screen refresh problems

Yellow tinged screen

This computer should be a simple joy to use and also offer 32GB of RAM and 2GB of VRAM like all professional Windows 7 mobile computers.

If there is a hardware problem, I would be happy to bring it back to Apple for a replacement. However, since re-installing the OS fixed the issue. Its a software problem. I would imagine there will be an update from Apple to fix the issues. But I dont want to drive an hour to the Apple store to replace my computer, or wait for an update. So re-installing the OS was the easiest and fastest way to fix the problem.

Yes, I am having the same issue. I am having to reboot my machine at least once a day.

The problem gets much worse after it has been asleep and I am opening the display and logging back in. After I log back in, sometimes many things dont repaint. For example Command -Tab doesn't show all the icons of all the running apps.

Eclipse has problems repeatedly... Moving windows to different locations often leave behind ghost edges.

I ran all the updates.

How does one reinstall the OS on this machine? It didn't come with any disks.

The process is easier then it sounds.

Restart your computer

as soon as the display turns back on (you should see white) press and hold the "Option" key

you should then see two icons appear. One will be your hard drive, and the other should be a recovery drive.

select the recovery drive

after a few seconds you should see some more options. Select the re-install the OS option. From here it should pretty much walk you through the whole process.

Since your computer is new, you can call Apple and they will walk you through the process over the phone. Or you can go to your nearest Apple store and they can help you out as well.

Good luck, hope this helps

There are no USB 2 or 3 connections problems I know of - or that I have noticed. Dull Screens? Yellow Tinged? First I hear of it. Do you just have a gripe that you can't order 32GB Ram with it (show me a windows system in even close to the same package / dimensions that does) or some other video card?

If there is a refresh problem, it seems to be limited at this point.

I still had the same issues after re-installing, and I also found a flickering display problem when opening my retina macbook from sleep.

I ended up having to return my retina macbook because I use my laptop for work every day and Best Buy only offers a 14 day exchange period. Since they're still having trouble keeping these in stock, I had to downgrade to the non-retina macbook pro. Not happy about it at all. I called on Saturday and they were still sold out all the nearby BB stores.

Hopefully Apple gets this resolved soon. I guess that's what happens when you're an early adopter. 😟

I am also having the problem, happens for me after I have let the computer go to sleep and then when I wake it up I start to get problems....but not every time!

My computer is used for work and on average is on for around 10 hours per day, it gets fairly hot but I never hear the fans come on. It is usually running Eclipse and also at least 1 instance of Windows in a VM.

On the plus side, the machine is the best I have ever had and no doubt Apple will issue a fix soon...

Yes I have a gripe at the trend in Apple design towards a sealed box design. I don't care about batteries bieng selad in or screens being fused to the lid but I do want to choose upgrade RAM later and HD later. I also would like to have a desktop replacement mobile workstation with options of 2GB of KQuadro 1000 or 2000 and of adding up to 32GB of RAM. This is not advanced tech but readily available from two leading windows vendors.

I prefer to stay with Apple as its customer care and quality control is superior. However, I cannot buy such an expensive computer with so little upgrade potential and merely 1GB of VRAM. I agree the Retina display is wonderful but very few of my clients will ever use one to see my content.

HP has come out with a modular design for their Z820 towers and mobile workstations which are well up to Apple standards. Their customer support is not and that's why I'd like to stay with Apple.

I am merely griping about the closed box approach and I am not alone amongst the content creators who kept Apple afloat before it dropped computer from its name. I merely want to choose when I upgrade my RAM and HD and choose the GPU on a top of the line PRO laptop. Is that really asking too much? Why would Apple not want my custom anymore? Why do you think it's just griping? I could reply: do you accept everything you are given?

We should be on the same side. I have bought Apple computers for years and my studio has a fleet of Mac Pros and more.

I am glad you returned it. My advice though is to only use Apple stores or if in NYC, Digital Society or Tekserve.

Apple offers the best customer care but this welding of RAM and1GB of VRAM on a mobile workstation serves no one but Apple. However, I sympathise with your loss of the Retina dream machine. I'd wait until next year and by then Apple will have sorted these problems out.
