You must purchase 10.5 installation DVD.

You must purchase the 10.5 disk. Apple no longer sells this, and it may be rather expensive on eBay or similar sites.

thanks.. Is it better then to possibly by pass 10.5 and go straight to a more recent operating system ? If so what would be the most suitable, viable, 'recent' 'up to date' system to use on a 2007 Macbook:

    Model Name:MacBook
      Model Identifier:MacBook2,1
      Processor Name:Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:2 GHz
      Number Of Processors:1
      Total Number Of Cores:2
      L2 Cache (per processor):4 MB
      Memory:1 GB
      Bus Speed:667 MHz
      Boot ROM Version:MB21.00A5.B07
      SMC Version:1.17f0
      Serial Number:W8******Z5V

      Sudden Motion Sensor:

      State:Enabled

    Kind regards Darren.

You could go up to Snow Leopard (10.6). If you add more RAM you could go to Lion (10.7), as that requires 2GB RAM.

If you want to go to Lion you will need to add RAM.

There has been an arguement as to whether or not you need Snow Leopard before Lion if you choose to get the Lion USB installer, but that would be $69.00 compared to $29.00 for Snow Leopard + $29.99 for Lion digital download = $58.99, so it would actually be cheaper to buy Snow Leopard and Lion. You can skip 10.5.
