Toast, Jam and Apple Updates

I recently updated MAC OS X to 10.3.9. I have been using Toast 5.2.3 and Jam 5.0.1 for a little over a year to burn CDs and it has operated flawlessly. After updated MAC (which included an Itunes update), I can no longer open saved Jam files or play audio in either Jam or Toast through my Pro Tools hardware. I get: "Couldn't complete the last command because of a MAC OS Error. Result code = -2004." Does anyone know how to correct the MAC OS Error? or even what the code means?

I suggest restoring your backup to the last known working version.

Don't upgrade the operating system until you can afford to upgrade to a newer version of Toast, or can verify that this version of Toast you have has the capabilities you need under the new operating system.

Upgrading should only be done with you are sure that everything you need is able to be upgraded smoothly, including third party software and peripherals. That's part of what my Upgrade FAQ explains:
