Audio resample from 44.1 kHz to 48 kHz

I ripped a cd to a m4a file and when I play it on my aTv3 and pass it to a DAC and the DAC indicates a 48 khz sample rate. Considering that the m4a file has 44.1 khz I conclude that the aTv is resampling the signal. Is it possible to eliminate this resample?

I really do not understand why it does this and am also not enamoured at the resampling.

Even if it's a theoretical issue I'd rather audio was sent unadulterated.

By all means I'd love them to add 24 bit and 44.1/88.2/48/96 kHz passthrough options over optical but this is just a little annoyance of ATV2/3.

ATV 1 gave 44.1 kHz 16 bit quite happily.
