problems deleting an calendar entry in icloud

I created a recurring event and invited someone. This person accepted. Now i deleted the calendar entry and the person i invited isn't able to delete the entry from their calendar. They can decline it, and choose to hide declined events in iclound and thus not see it, but the declined event still syncs to an iphone and is visible. How do I delete this event from the icloud calendar?? help! thanks
