Two days ago i removed my sim and a small copper board came out with it, its the same size as the older style sim and shape, the phone still works perfect apart from it now says no service and i cant make calls etc,

You're not referring to the SIM tray, are you?
If something else has come out along with the tray and SIM, then your iPhone is almost certainly damaged and you'll need to take or send it to Apple for service.

The SIM is the "small copper board" shown below. What you pulled out was the SIM tray that holds the SIM, as VP shows above.

Again, if something came out more than the SIM and the tray, then your iPhone is damaged and will need to be taken to Apple.

Looks like that some kind of hardware unlock board.
I agree with Torkit. That looks like the Gevey SIM. Those are illegal in just about every country in the world and hence cannot be discussed here. Get a true SIM from your cell carrier, and if your iPhone is locked to another carrier, contact the carrier and see if you can get your iPhone officially unlocked.
