Q: iTunes 10.6.3 update cannot be verified??

I'm running a MacPro 10.6.8.

When I did the normal software update, it installed the Java update and one other, but had an issue with iTunes 10.6.3.

It says 'The update iTunes cannot be installed - the update cannot be verified'

down at the bottom I see - iTunes partially downloaded 22%

I've rebooted and re-run software update several times, exact same issue, it won't try to download it.

How do I clear out the partially downloade file and fix this?

same problem here, macbook 6.1 SL 10.6.8

I tried 3 times already in different days to instal this, but the same problem pop up.

It's possible to download the installer for 10.6.3. I wonder if that would fix things, or muck things up?

Where is the partially downloaded file stored?

I have had the same issue this morning. But now, late the evening, the download is working magically. Probably Apple worked meanwhile behind the scenes ...

Still not working for me.

Software update shows it is 22% downloaded. And when I tell it to install it, it immediately fails as before.

Pretty sad when Apple can't get its own revenue generating software to install properly.

Ok - here's how I fixed the problem. You have to delete the files in the /Library/Updates folder.

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2383

Then, it STILL won't download the iTunes update properly in software update - exactly the same problem occurs as before.

So, I deleted the partial download, and then download iTunes directly from apple.com/itunes and installed it.

I do the same now, I hope it will work.

Still it is a fail in apple's part. I expect thinks like this to work, or at least to get something like "we are on it, don't worry"...

I experienced the same problem and I've finally succeded by changing the DNS server to Google ones.
Before that change I have the Telecom Italia stock DNS servers which are well known to screwed up things from time to time.

Maybe could be helpful to someone else...

I'm a computer guy. I run my own BIND DNS server so I'm not dependant on an ISP or whatever to get it right.

The problem was not a DNS issue (the other updates came in fine).

The problem was Apple being unable to install it's own updates properly.

I have a MacBook pro and I couldn't get it to download after many many attempts. Then I noticed the requirement for Safari. So I closed my Firefox browser and downloaded in in Safari in first attempt. Imagine that, Apple won't let you use someone elses browser to download an update file.
