Can I use my canon m980 to print from my iPad?

I'm trying to set up my printer (canon mp980) so I can use it from my new ipad but so far no luck, does any one have any suggestions? Thanx

iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1

it doesn't look like Canon officially supports airprint on your model http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/standard_display/AirPrint

you may need to get a third party app that broadcasts a usable airprint signal from a network

I use airprint activator (on mbp) which is able to broadcast my printer to my airprint devices.

Another option is an AirPrint-capable print server. Lantronix makes a couple of models, including one that supports a USB printer (that model is not shipping yet):
