My phone is from USA and I live in Qatar, however, they want me to return to USA to replace it. That's absurd!

Where you are sounds far hotter than anyplace I would like to be...in any case, here is some info on acceptable temperatures and other temperature related info..

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2101

    from this article...

Operate iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (4th generation) in a place where the temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might temporarily shorten battery life or cause the device to temporarily stop working properly.

Store the device in a place where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.

    are you within this range?

i just had a word with apple care they told me that india does not have any authoirised retail store thats the reason you cant replace or get the service in india but you can get your phone replaced or serviced from the country having apple authorised apple retail store like aus, canada ,usa china hong kong etc etc  .. :/
