An Apple Genius advised that a single charger terminal had a tiny bit of corrosion although none of the LCI's had been triggered. This was preventing my iPhone 4 from charging. The phone is 8 months old but as the store considered this to be water damage it would cost £130 to repair as the warranty doesn't cover water damage.
Is this right my phone has not been anywhere near water?

If the Genius is correct this is simple fix. Clean the charging port with clean toothbrush and a bit of Isopropyll Alcohol. Or a clean lint free cloth and a bit of Isopropyll Alcohol. Clean especially the top of the port mid rib, this is where the pins are. Let it dry for a minute and try charging. If problem, clean again.

I'm loathe to try anything at this stage as I'm still wondering about the other part of my question, is this really 'water damage' and does it invalidate my warranty?
I'm of the opinion that it's NOT water damage and Apple should replace the handset (obviously).
