my screen keeps flashing as though a screen capture was being made

This is unnerving. At random intervals, my screen flashes. It more like "winks" - as though a screen capture was being made. Actually, when you make a real screen capture, the screen doesn't wink, but that's the impression I get. The screen doesn't flicker or flash like it's a hardware bad connection, but goes through a fast, but continuous normal-white-normal cycle.

I'm looking at my activity monitor to see if something is unusual, but I can't tell. Everything I look up seems to be real.

Captfred,

This is clearly the kind of flash I was seeing, but the setting was not checked.

It may have been enabled, though, as I fiddled around iwth the sound setting because I was not getting any sound alerts. I unset/reset the sound alert, and it started working. Maybe it had somehow been reset to the universal access (don't know how), and I fiddled with it so that the sound alert came back, because the flashing stopped.

Now I know to tinker with Universal Access when creepy things happen. Thanks.
