Question

I have a four day old MacBook Pro 13" which has had two Kernel Panics in two days, is it Parallels or shall I just take it back, or is it the driver issue that everybody is talking about, please see Thanks for the response, so glad its not just me.I&#x27;ve been told it&#x27;s Parallels related "BSD process name corresponding to current thread: prl_vm_app"I&#x27;ve had four Kernel Panic&#x27;s in six days !!!I&#x27;m asking for advice as I want to know if it is MacBook Hardware or Software related, if it&#x27;s the MacBook then I can get it exchanged as it&#x27;s under 14 days old still.I&#x27;m also having a new issue today in that I&#x27;m getting a message from Time Machine saying it cant find the Time Capsule any more, well of course it cant because its at home 😕 this is a new one on me, never had it before, so I&#x27;m worried my new MacBook Pro is a possible duffer !!!Starting to worry about the next issue.....Anybody ???

Looks like a driver issue to me.   The cue to me being: Kernel Extensions in backtrace:         com.apple.driver.AppleIntelHD4000Graphics(7.2.8)[6B02D782-A79F-399C-81FD-353EBF F2AB81]@0xffffff7f816f2000-&gt;0xffffff7f81758fffWhat were you doing when it happened?  So far, it looks like the graphics driver issue people have been reporting.

Probably not that for I have installed neither parrallels nor virtual box. I heard it could be related to the 10.7.4 update im going to try 10.7.3 again. Also maybe it was the beta version of messages. Not sure but I&#x27;m doing a complete reinstall.

Hi sjst3wart,Thanks for the response.I am big Parallels user during the day due to work stuff etc. nothing out of the ordinary but at least two of the panics were when I was closing Windows/Parallels down, I&#x27;m also using UltraMon with Parallels as I use two monitors, do you think it&#x27;s hardware or just driver issue with the HD4000 due to it being a new model/product etc?I didn&#x27;t see the other users comments about the graphics driver issue you mention, due you have any url links?Thanks again for your time.

A complete reinstall !!!Why should we have to go through all this hassle on a £1300.00 product, it&#x27;s out of order, you mention trying 10.7.3 and dumping 10.7.4, is that the Thunderbolt update patch, I saw some posts that mention going backwards but it looked complicated.

I actually pulled the 750GB drive on mine when I bought it and put a 1TB Hitachi drive in, I did a clean install from the internet of OS X, the extra 250GB helps when using other OS&#x27;s such as Windows with Parallels.Can we roll back drivers or updates do you know?

I wish I could be of more help, but I&#x27;m mostly speaking from the perspective who finds bugs in Linux for a living...  Haha.  So I&#x27;ve looked at a kernel panic trace or two, before.  Some of the other threads I&#x27;ve seen indicated a problem with the Intel HD4000 driver with chrome and flash (that specific combination).  It does sound like the Intel HD4000 is a new component in the mix, and it stands to reason that its driver could cause a few issues.  In my experience with Linux, kernel panics are pretty much always caused by software misbehaving.  Basically, from my standpoint, I&#x27;d be very surprised if it wasn&#x27;t something that software will fix.

Ahh, it looks like prl_vm_app is Parallels.  Yeah, it looks like it could be related to the interaction between that and the Intel HD4000 driver.  Sounds like they have some bugs to take care of in that driver.

Calling all Parallels version 7 users !!!!Is anybody having the same issues as me with the latest i7 13" MacBook Pro, I&#x27;m considering doing what ashayer did and downgrade back to 10.7.3 (when I learn how to do that) 😊
