    I don't know why you would use it.

     

    Many use it because they do not have another way of connecting an ipad/ipod/computer/etc to the internet.

    I have an iPhone, my partner has an iPad with WiFi only.

     

    When we're away from home and not in a free WiFi area, I boot up my Personal Hotspot and this gives us both internet access.  Of course if we weren't addicted to Words With Friends we probably wouldn't need it.  Also handy for our laptop too - as we have broadband at home but nothing mobile.

     

    I'm not sure where you live Mazda19 but here in Australia, free WiFi is a very rare commodity - unlike our more enlightened friends in the US and Europe!

    Personal hotspot basically shares your celluar data with other wifi devices
