Experience in delivery times for retina MBP so far?

So I put in an order for a retina Macbook Pro on June 17 and as we all know the estimated time to ship is 3-4 weeks right now.

For those of you who also ordered online, have you received yours yet? Curious to see if the estimated time to ship is accurate or if they're just managing expectations.

Yes, I'm impatient!

Just a quick summary update:

It arrived yesterday!

ordered 16th
shipped 24th via DHL
arrived in the country on the 26th, delivered 27th morning.

Side note: DHL's online tracking is horrific. half the time you have no idea where your package is.

LG display but no IR problems.

Mountain Lion is gorgeous at best, bearable at worst and no where near as bad as i thought non-retina upscaling would be. windows 7 in a virtual machine running at 1440x900 full screen actually looks nice as well.

Bootcamp on the other hand is a nightmare. No native 1440x900 res, has to be manually entered as a custom resolution. native resolution looks best, but isnt useable. DPI scaling is horrible under windows due to inconsistencies across visual elements (ie icons, buttons, text and images). some things scale well, some dont at all and some stay at native resolution regardless.

Guild Wars 2 was my first graphics stress test. Have to say it, the 650m is a little shorthanded. 15ish fps at max resolution and max settings minus AA. Looks gorgeous, isnt playable. scaling down settings didn't improve perfomance as much as i'd have liked. between 30-50fps. Will try other titles later. Apple should have added a 2gb vram option for the resolution.

True true. Never expected it to be a fully fledged gaming machine, nor was I planning to run everything at max settings anyhow. Laptop gaming has its compromises and it is usually a performance vs portability cost. Alienwares, Sagers and Origin laptops come to mind. Whereas I would love to keep a gaming desktop, I have no place to keep one at the moment. I move around quite a bit and I need my laptop with me at all times, and I've been spoiled by the apple ecosystem such that I cannot go back to using windows as a primary OS. And it does seem like the 650m is the best gpu apple has put into its laptop range yet.

Having said all that, this is by far the best portable machine I've ever owned. Yes there are cheaper alternatives and yes there will be "early adopter" woes that we'll have to face with this iteration and yes the next generation will be much better. Then again if you wait for the next best thing you'll wait forever and there is no fun challenge if "everything just works" 😉. To all those waiting, have patience, and to all those who recieved theirs, enjoy!

To all gamers out there, I would like to say that if you are not satisfied with the graphics performance of the GT650M, it can be pushed farther even though they are already at higher clocks in the rMBP. With MSI Afterburner under Windows 7, i was able to achieve a stable clock of 1035/1729 with max temperatures increasing by only 1C. This resulted in a 27% with 3D mark 11( from 2252 to 2860). Isn't that awesome?! So if you do not fear potentially bricking your expensive machine, go for it! ( the advanced cooling system should greatly reduce the chances of that happening)

i got my mbr 1.5 weeks now.

i would not count that you gonna have 7 hours of the battery. from my experience is more like 3.5 hours.

that is with a normal usage. my normal usage like today is:

- running and modeling in maya 3d

- running at the same time photoshop

- listening to the music whiles doing all the things above

- screen brightest on max

- browsing Internet via wifi

- Bluetooth on - using Bluetooth mouse all the time

dont know if its any good or not, but i would not hope for 7 hours

I have some bad news. 😟

LG display has finally shown it's true faulty colors.

One dead pixel appeared, image retention issue confirmed.
Not planning to send it in for a replacement. Going to contact the local apple certified service provider, have them order in the replacement display assembly and replace the part on site when it arrives. Hopefully there are Samsung screens available, and hopefully they would be able to specifically order one. From what I gather, theres a high percentage chance that this is a persistent issue across LG manufactured displays.

For a 2200-2800 usd machine that otherwise performs almost flawlessly, I am not impressed. "You're looking at it wrong" will not fly this time.

Guys,

I ordered a rMBP which was delivered and noticed that i have a squeeky keyboard key. Called Apple on the 14th day and they are sending me out a replacment tomorrow and someone will call me next week to arrange a pick up for the faulty mac.

My Question is what if i do not respond to the company which calls me for the pick up of the replacement? will apple be able to chase me for it as i would have already had the replaacement by tomorrow lol..

Thanks
