Experience in delivery times for retina MBP so far?

So I put in an order for a retina Macbook Pro on June 17 and as we all know the estimated time to ship is 3-4 weeks right now.

For those of you who also ordered online, have you received yours yet? Curious to see if the estimated time to ship is accurate or if they're just managing expectations.

Yes, I'm impatient!

Most models in stock for immediate shipping, if you're that impatient:

I've always received anything I've ever ordered, directly from Apple, earlier than what Apple estimates.

I hear ya, I also ordered mine on June 17th. I want it now! I check my email everyday to see if it's shipped yet. I'm hopeful that it'll get here before the estimated delivery date (July 17- July 23). I got my gift card just 4 days after placing my order but then again, it's just the gift card. Got my fingers crossed.

I ordered the 256 GB Retina Display MBP the first day about 7pm PDT. Delivery was scheduled July 3-10. I too was impatient. Stopped by the local Apple Store in Rancho Cucamonga, CA last Friday to look at them in person. Asked if they had any in stock and was told they "had a few." Canceled my online order and took one home with me. 🙂

Problem is I found stores that they have few in stock but I'm currently at Malaysia and the only way that I could use education price is either get one from my campus branch or order one online. Well the campus store doesn't have any and if they had they said it's not gonna be with 16G RAM so I went for online option.

I hope I get one without any problem (freezing, burin-in, etc). I need it bad for my projects and it kills me if I have to return it and wait another 3-4 weeks.

best of luck for all of you

dynamos - Nice to hear from someone with their hands on one! Give us some first impressions. I played with one at the local Apple Store yesterday. Looks like it will take some getting used to after the couple of 17" MBP I've had. My old eyes may not appreciate going to a smaller screen, even with the higher resolution (when all the programers start to take advantage of the it).

I think it is great machine. Display is very sharp. The machine is noticably faster than my 2009 MBP. Had no problems moving my software and data from my old machine to the new one, using Time Machine Back-up. It brought over VMWare for windows. My son installed Windows 7, and it runs very well. However, I use it only for Quicken. So far the new MBP with retina display fulfills the hype for me. Only problems I have experienced involve iPhoto. Had problems converting the thumbnails to high resolution. Apple Care support, after a long time on the phone solved the problem, after the call was moved to higher level of support. However, iPhoto has crashed twice. The good news is my photos look amazing on the retina display.

Have you had any issues with the display? I've been reading about people getting "ghosting" or display image retention on their Retinas. Maybe you've heard about it. Seems pretty widespread. I hope it's not a hardware issue. Maybe Mountain Lion will fix this problem. Here's a link that shows the "ghosting".

I saw the article about shipment delays just before I was notified of the status change. It seems to be only large corporate orders that are being delayed and only with a specific configuration (largest SSD but standard CPU speed). I think this is either a bottleneck regarding this specific set of specs or the possibility that they have tried to fix the ghosting issue on the display but can only make the fix on a one at a time basis (this latter possibility is pure speculation on my part and, I'll admit, doesn't make all that much sense).
