Can't open any icons even apple won't open any ideas?

After start up my I mac won't open anything icons just bounce once and nothing happens, can't even open apple support or help has anyone got any ideas how to fix.,

iMac, iOS 5.0.1

First, shut down (power off) and start up your Mac again. See if the problem returns.


If that does not help, try starting up with the Shift key held down to do a Safe Mode startup.

If this allows you to start up to the Desktop and run applications, run Disk Utility (in the Applications/Utilities folder). Select your startup disk (usually called "Macintosh HD") in the Disk Utility sidebar, and go to the First Aid tab. Use Repair Disk Permissions. Don't be too concerned if a lot of messages come up. It is fixing what needs to be fixed and the rest of it is usually just "informational."


Try restarting normally.
