how do I download contacts from icloud to outlook
Windows 7
Exporting a vcf file after selecting all of the contacts doesn't successfully import into Outlook. The first contact in the file works, the rest are ignored. Is there a way to successfully export all contacts from iCloud and successfully import all contacts into Outlook as a group?
You have two main methods, an easy way and a harder manual way.
Easy one first. This should be a piece of cake if you have installed the iCloud Control Panel. Here is a super-simple guide for downloading and setting that up if you haven't. This is the best option, as it keeps the contacts synced if you add/remove/edit them on your phone or online. The second method is a one-time import that does not keep changes updated, it simply manually adds the current information from iCloud and that's that. Here's your link to get the simple way working:

Failing that, the manual way is done by going to https://www.icloud.com/#contacts and it will make you login using your email@me.com (iCloud account username/password). Then you will see the online version of your contacts. All you have to do is select a contact, then go down to the little gear/cog in the bottom left corner, click it... and go to "Export to VCF..." then choose where to save the file (or it will go to your normal downloads location).
If it remains in your download window, just double click it, and Windows will pick up from there and will do all the import work. You may have to choose/tell it to use Outlook to open the file if it asks.
That is for a single contact. If you want them all at once, just one extra step. Before doing "Export to VCF...", in the same menu is "Select All"... make sure they're all selected and then carry on as normal. This will put all of the contacts into one file.
Hope that helps! Please mark this as "the answer" or "solved" if it works for you. Thanks!
FYI...his is under Win7 and Outlook 2010 for me.
There is an issue when selecting ALL where the vcf export file only contains ONE (the first contact) record.
The workaround I used was to export the iCloud/Contacts in Outlook 2010 to a backup.pst file and then import that backup.pst into the regular Outlook contacts folder.
Is there anywayyou can help a really novice computer person and share with me how to create that backup file and then import it into my outlook contacts? Thank you....
I was able to download the icloud control panel for windows and do it like that. It synced ALL my contacts in outlook address book.
Firstly follow the guide to export contacts from iCloud to your computer. http://fonepawsophia.blogspot.com/2015/04/how-to-export-contacts-from-icloud.htm l
Then open Outlook and select File > Import and Export, the Import and Export Wizard dialog appears.
Select Import a VCARD File (.vcf), click Next.
Locate and select the location of the vCard, which is exported from iCloud, click Open.
Click on your contacts in the left navigation panel.
