Q: Connecting Apple TV to an Audiolab M DAC results in drop out in streaming audion files. Anybody else have similar problems.

I am trying to steam wirelessly from an I mac to an Apple TV connected via an optical cable to an Audiolab M DAC. The music sounds graet but is interupted with blank passages which i take to be dropouts in the streaming. How might i address these symptoms.

Move my hub to a different position?

Maske some software adjustments somewhere?

Not try and stream wirelessly?

If you can run ethernet even just to test that would help exclude wifi as the cause.

Check optical connections and maybe another optical lead?

Ethernet  is ok to the DAC as is optical to the DAC from a CD player.  I have tried different optical leads and two different inputson the DAC. No improvemrent.

There's reports for this problem on PinkFish Media audio forum. The designer of the MDAC (Who does updates anytime there's a problem with the dac, attributes it to APPLETV 2nd generation hardware. But as usual, no comments from Apple. I haven't tried it out yet, but it's a 2nd gen problem, first gen seems to be working ok.
