Q: When will Apple support SDXC on the iPad?

I have read the support thread here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4101 stating that SDXC is decidedly NOT supported. My question is basically: "When and how will this be fixed?"

My guess is that SDXC is not supported because of the new exFAT system used by these cards, so are we just waiting on an update in iOS, or is it limited by the hardware in the the SD card adapter? Or am I off base on why it isn't working?

I'm eager to find out because I just got a new camera that is not supported by the USB camera connection kit (iOS says it draws too much power) and now my brand new 32 GB SDXC card isn't supported either. So, short of purchasing a powered USB hub and connecting it to a wall wart, I have no way of transferring my photos from my camera to iPad while out on a shoot. Also, having already purchased all the adapters, I would prefer not to buy anything new; especially if a fix is imminent.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bear in mind that USB drives don't have a good success rate  I had 14 of them handy one day - my whole collection - I tested them all and had a 50/50 success rate. With no consistency across manufacturer or size.  a 512 that wouldn't work, a 4 gig that would, but other 4 gigs that wouldn't.

Not saying it won't, it will, but it is a trial and error thing.

If you want to use the camera connection kit to expand your memory by carrying videos etc with you, go for SD cards. I've plugged in up to a 32 gig card and not run across the 'too much power' warning.

And another thing to bear in mind, since your iPad won't play off the card but you have to import it, you have to have the free room on your device to import it to. Basically if you want to start carrying movies around to import and watch, you'll need to free up a few gigs so you can import them.

i had 64gb sdxc. CCK didn't recognized it.

so i run CMD in windows 7

    DISKPART

    LIST DISK

    SELECT DISK 2(in my case)

    CLEAN

CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=32000 OFFSET=16384(dont know why, such offset was earlier)

    LIST PARTITION

    SELECT PARTITION 1(in my case)

    FORMAT FS=FAT32 QUICK

    EXIT

now i have 32 gb SDXC instead of 64g but it's compatible with my Camera Connection Kit.

if you have sdxc card 32g or less, i think this might help.
