Q: Delete Apple Community Discussions?

Hello, I am wondering how you can delete any discussions that I have created on the Apple Community website? They are embarrising to me because I keep moaning about technology alot, so I wanted to delete my rants from here but I don't know how. Also I seems to get abit looked down on by people twice my age who know ALOT about Apple XD (Yea i'm a nooby teenage girl) so it would be good to delete them. Thanks x

    Hi,

If you post the Links to the Threads or posts you have made then someone will let the Hosts (Moderators) know of this thread.

The Hosts may or may not remove them at that point.  (it really depends on the criteria used)

As to how others view you can be dependant on how many people have read the thread.

There are now over 4 million people registered to Post on Apple Support Communities.

Those people are worldwide and English may not be there first Language in many cases.

Experience here is not always age related as there are some very young (by my personal standards - I have owned Macs since 1991 when I started a University course at the age of 34)

Many of the regular posters try to match the level of expertise in answers to the apparent expertise shown by the question.  (It's not always about knowledge but about what might be understood in an answer)

That said some do post very short answers.

When you reach Level 2 you can report your own or anyone else's Posts.  AT present you will have to rely on third Parties doing it from here.

You can't delete your posts. Moderators might if there was a very good reason to which there doesn't seem to be in this case.

You now seem to realise that these forums are not for rants (or chat or whatever) but for asking and answering serious technical questions in a calm and rational way.

If you are now ashamed by some of your previous posts and want to disassociate yourself from them the best thing to do is to create a new account with a different name and let Hucy94 fade into the mists of time.

I don't know why you think your posts are embarrasing. I read them and they look fine to me. I have seen many, far worse rants.

Also I seems to get abit looked down on by people twice my age who know ALOT about Apple XD (Yea i'm a nooby teenage girl) so it would be good to delete them.

This is the internet. How do you know they aren't younger than you?

It seems that your one thread was about Apple customer support policies. If you don't like paying for telephone support, it doesn't seem to make much sense to abandon the excellent, and free, support you can get here.

    And Hucy94,

You may be a "nooby teenage girl" but that doesn't make your comments any less valid.  I doubt anyone is looking down on you, we all had to learn, and you do seem to now appreciate there are more gentle ways of going about things.

Today is going to be a lovely day.

No, and you can't delete an Apple ID anyway.

Maybe you can give me a few tips about how to become a Level 2?

You increase level by attaining points: these are awarded by people who start a thread for helpful or correct answers, so to increase your points you need to provide useful answers to people; which of course means that you need experience in the area being asked about. You can't get points just by posting, or by marking your own post as correct.

Thanks for the tips :D I want to give you some points but I think I used them up because it doesn't come up that this has helped me anymore :S is there a way I can give you points?

Only two 'helpful' and one 'correct' can be awarded per thread. I might add that requesting, or even hinting at getting, points is not considered acceptable.

I am new to this >< I really don't know how any of this works. Is there any way of deleting the apple community account? I am finding it hard enough trying to see what is right and wrong with how Apple Community works >< plus I am not getting along with the Community on here at all, I feel sad now :(

You can't delete the account, but though I think you are worrying unnecessarily, if you just stop using it your posts will shortly get pushed off the front pages as other people post and disappear into the vast backlog.

Okay thanks for your help. How long do you think before the posts will eventually disappear?

A day or so, probably. They won't exactly disappear, but people would have to dig for them and they've no incentive to do that.
