Jun 23, 2012 8:33 AM in response to antony_666by Tesserax,The 1st generation 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) came out in March of 2008. If you got yours in late 2008, and bought it new, it should be this model as well. It is Model# A1264 and it would be printed on a label on one of its sides.
If; however, it is Model# A1084, then you do have the older 802.11g version. Unfortunately, there is no currently available AirPort Utility version that supports it that runs on OS X Lion. You would either need a Mac running a previous version of OS X or a Windows PC to administer this older base station.

Jun 23, 2012 8:52 AM in response to antony_666by Bob Timmons,The info notes on AirPort Utility 5.6.1 indicate that it will not run on Lion 10.7.x. It will run on Snow Leopard 10.6.x or Leopard Macs 10.5.x.
AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion is what you need, as it can be used on your Mac running Lion to configure both the original and previous generation AirPort Express models.
