imovie crash

I updated to the new operating system and now iMovie will not open. I also have problems with other programs such as Quicken and Adobe Priemier. Anyone else have these issues? Is there any repair available?

I found the answer to the iMovie crash. At least it worked for me!

In the Finder, navigate to the "Go" menu. Select "Go to Folder". Type in "/Library/Quicktime" without the quotes. This will take you to the "Library" folder which is hidden in Lion. If it's installed on your machine, you should see the 3ivxvideocodec file in there. Drag it to the Trash. Hope this fixes the problem!

I was so happy to find this easy fix, but in my Quicktime folder, the only two files are:

/Library/QuickTime/AppleIntermediateCodec.component

/Library/QuickTime/AppleMPEG2Codec.component

In my case, this is the first time I have ever launched iMovie since a clean install of Lion. The app seems to launch, but then it just has a spinning beach ball.
