Weird iPhoto issue

I keep having problems on the wifes MacBook Pro iPhoto app. She gets tons and tons of duplicate images and get this thousands of website button icons and website pages themselves within the iPhoto main album. Right now I have it deleting over 13K images of junk, some even images of people we dont even know that I am pretty sure came from Google (when you do a seach and click IMAGES within google.) Its really strange. Anyone have any ideas?

This can happen if the HD cicon or a Library icon are accidentally dragged to the iPhoto Window or the iPhoto icon.

Simple solution: restore from back up.

If that's not possible then best to start a new Library and use a tool like iPhoto Library Managerto move the images you want to preserve to it. This will move images, versions edit history and all metadata.
