CharisMac and external Iomega Super DVD Drive...

Hi:

I purchased a USB 2 Iomega Super DVD Writer, for my G4 with an internal Hitachi DVD-ROM drive. The DVD Writer came with CharisMac DVD/CD authoring software. I have numerous questions re: DVD/CD burning:

a) I finally managed to figure out how to burn audio CDs, but it is extremly slow - is it because of the USB 1.0 on my Mac?

b) I attempted to burn some MP3 CDS on TDK data CD-R. The MP3s were written, but I am unable to play them in any commercial MP3 players. These CDs play only in my computer, in the RVD=ROM drive.

c) I am unable to use iTunes to burn CDs because it does not recognise the drive - any way around that? This drive does not show up on the system profiler either...

d) I am unable to write VCDs - already ruined a bunch of CDs. Help...

e) If I get everything working, can I use DVD+/- R discs to store my MP3 music files, and play them from DVD players? Essentially, instead of using CDs for MP3s can I exploit the large capacity of the DVDs to store and play music only (no video)

I have more questions but if someone could help me out with theses I would be really grateful. WIth many thanks,

Sangeetha

Thank you, Hussein, for your comments. I shall try creating an Audio CD of MP3 and let you know.

Meanwhile...Discribe was bundled with my Iomega drive, and Toast seems fairly expensive. Any other suggestions?

Discribe does have the capability of multiple formats (Mac HFS, ISO 9660, ISO 9660 XA, Audio CD, Build-A-Mac HFS, Mac/ISO Hybrid, Disc Copy Image, CD to CD-RW copy, CD Extra, Video CD, DVD Video/Audio, Universal Disk Format), apart from creating Data CD, Audio CD and Copy a CD in its quick start menu.

I tried copying a VCD using Video CD option - could not select files either from the VCD or from the files I had copied into my Mac. Disc Copy Image also failed - got the response that the image I selected cannot be used to create a disc. What am I doing wrong?

I tried to install a PCI controller card but it failed royally. It is a cheap USB 2.0 VIA 4+1 ports PCI card distributed by Macsense. The system profiler recognises it, but none of the devices connected through it work (will post that question in the appropriate forum).

Thank you so much for your help.
