How do I know if I need a new battery? The unlock pages flickers on -- very briefly, but long enough to see that it shows 73% battery life.

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Oh my goodness been without my ipad a week ,thanks this worked for me.
My Ipad 2 won't start. It is frozen on the slide to unlock page, which keeps flickering, and is frozen on yesterday's date. Do i need a new battery?
