my ipod is stuck in the "language" screen with "English" highlighted. The only thing it does is the light turns on when I turn the hold button on and off. I tried resetting. No resolve. Any other ideas???

Does anything useful happen when you connect it to the computer using the USB cable?

Also, you used this RESET procedure

and the iPod did not "reboot"? Unless your iPod nano's clickwheel is broken, it should respond to pressing and holding the Menu and Center buttons.
