iPhone crashes when saving photo from app

When viewing a photo over around 950 KB in my applications, the iphone will attempt to open it, and then close.

This means I can't "save" the photo, can't view the photo, and all I can see is the thumbnail.

So my solution was to directly export the photo through the e-mail feature built into the app. It worked for the first photo I downloaded to my iphone, and I managed to successfully send the photo to me through e-mail. I can't view it on my iphone, but since I downloaded it, it was on my iphone so I could send it.

I downloaded more photos (they sent multiples), and the file size is now over 10 MB total and I can no longer e-mail the attachments to myself. The photos have to be somewhere on my iphone, but I don't know where. I don't want to view them on my iphone, I simply want to transfer them to my computer.

I'm using an iPhone 3g and I have no idea where to access these photos, or where they're saved at in my iPhone.

Ideas?

iPhone 3G, iOS 3.1.3

I'm using an Application.

In this application individuals can send photos to you.

When I open the photo they send to me, it downloads. Anything over 950 KB will -crash- my iPhone when I open it (you open it in the app, not with your iPhone).

If I do not -save- the photo using the "save" button in the top right, it will not save it to my camera roll. The iPhone CRASHES after I try to open the photo so I cannot save it to my camera roll and cannot access it that way.

However, I can open the file (and crash over and over, and get a 1 second look at it) before the iPhone crashes. This means the photo is saved on my iPhone. That was further proved when I used the "export messages" feature. I could e-mail myself any pictures I downloaded, but could not preview / save to my camera roll. This means the image is cached somewhere on my iPhone, but I can't find it. The only way I can delete the cache is by deleting my chat history with this user.

I need to find the cache file on my iPhone and move it to my PC so I can view the image.

You would have to contact the app developer about that. It may be stored in an app .plist file or similar that is not accessible on the phone itself, other than through the app. Also check the app in the app store to confirm that it supports iOS 3.1.3. That's a very old iOS now and may not be fully supported by the app. You could update your 3G to 4.2.1 if the app requires iOS 4.
