Accidentally locked iPod nano. How do I unlock it w/o knowing code? Not even resetting it works.

When I turn my iPod on, it asks me for a combination for the lock - but I don't even remember setting a lock. How do I make it go away? I tried resetting it, but that doesn't even work.
