iMovie 9.0.6 and missing audio for MPEG2

iMovie 9.0.6 does not seem to import MPEG2 audio anymore? Has anyone else noticed this or is my setup gone wierd? Prior to iMovie version 9.0.6 I was able to get video and audio perfectly well from my camera (JVC model GZ-MG77EK) which records MPEG2, now the audio is missing. Also iMovie 9.0.6 now crashes when previewing a clip in the camera imoprt panel.
