What app are you using trying to scan? First see if scanning is supported on that device in Printer and scanner software for Snow Leopard & Lion. If it is then use Image Capture (already installed on your iMac), if you cannot find your scanner as a supported device then you may need a third party scanning app such as VueScan.

I'm having the same problem. The Kyocera doesn't use and software on the Mac AFAIK, it does the can itself and then sends the document to the Mac using file sharing, usually SMB. Unfortunately with Lion (I think) Apple changed SMB sharing and broke it in many situations.

I don't know of any solution I'm afraid, but if I fix it on mine I'll let you know.

A Kyocera technician has confirmed that scanning hasn't worked since Lion. They don't really seem to care that it doesn't and aren't working on a solution. As far as I can see it is problems with Apple's implementation of SMB.

We've switched to scanning to a USB stick, which sort of works better for us anyway.

Hi there,

I had the same problem with my MacMini ( OSX 10.7.5) and Kyocera KM-C 2525 and Taskalfa 250i.

I solved it by sending the scans via FTP to my Mac.

The only thing you have to do is to launch and configure a ftp-client such as cyber-duck.

Then you have to configure Scan to FTP on your Kyo. And everything works.
