Why is my iSight camera tinted blue?

I just opened my isight camera and for some reason, it's displaying the current picture as a having a blue tint. I updated my software, but it didnt change anything. It's not just photobooth that makes the picture look this way either. When using other programs with the iSight camera, it is still displayed with a blue tint.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi All,

I was also facing the similar issue few minutes before, I did my research and found various commands to reset the profile and other stuffs but none work. Then i just tried to get close to camera to maintain its white balance and voila! its resolved.

I think it's just because of white balance which was disturbed. basically you just have to be as close as possible to camera and that's all. It worked for me and i hope it should work for others too.

Cheers and have a good day!

Here are my best suggestions for your camera problem:

• If Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090

suggestions do not help you, (the "reset" suggested there

often restores normal function,) continue with the following.

• Use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions and then

download and apply the latest Combo Update, for your Mac OS,

the current one is at: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1524

• Repair permissions again immediately following the system restart

that completes the Combo update.

Properly applying the Combo version of updates can sometimes correct software problems, but, if your trouble is caused by a hardware problem, there are no user serviceable parts of iSight. For hardware help, contact Apple Support or your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

(Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD." Regardless of the name of your built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)
