External Blu-Ray drive for the MacBook Pro with Retina Display

Hello!

I'm just going to get a MacBook Pro with Retina Display and I want to watch Blu-Ray discs on it. I know there is software for it, but getting the external drive is harder as most of them only have support for Windows. Can you please help me with that? I would like to buy one which has official support for the OS X and not trying to make an unsupported drive work. I found some on the internet but they are either from no names or expensive as **** (280 euros on amazon.de).

Thank you, but that article talks about how to run it if you have an external drive already and doesn't say which ones are compatible with the OS X. It would be easy to find the drives if shopping websites would have proper filters to select which operating system I need them to support. Any other idea? 🙂

Thank you again! The problem is that I'm living in Europe and I doubt I can buy from that website. It's not that expensive but some people on the internet are saying that none of the software on it works for Mac (I guess it's for Windows).

I know this is an old string, but I also got the external blu-ray and playback is the least of my problems. The external simply ejects the disc, not wanting to burn via Toast 10. Any suggestions?

There is another software available for that and I've found the following burner on Amazon; I am looking for an external Blu-ray player/burner for my MBPR 2013 model.

Try to update it to Toast 11 - that should work.

That one looks a bit 'generic'... I've had this one on my Amazon Wish List for quite some time - from OWC and they're known for both Mac-compatibility and guaranteeing their products.

I think it is not generic - as from the description it specifically says for Apple MacBook; 2ndly the one which you have posted is too big to be called portable; the one I posted goes well in looks with MBP;-)

I've just never heard of "Archgon" - I see that NewEgg has a black version of it for $100... still, it gets some good reviews on Amazon and it is, indeed, more portable than the OWC version that I'm getting.

Here's the weird thing, I got Toast 11 after getting the ASUS burner and it CONTINUES to eject the disk as if something is amiss, but I can't figure out what.
