m4v file may be an application?

I used a 3rd party video player for a while (MPlayer Extended, to be exact), but decided to stick with Quicktime since it played what I needed. However, after having used the other player, everytime I open an .m4v file I get a dialog window that says '"Filename.m4v" may be an application. It was downloaded from the Internet and will be opened by Quicktime Player. Are you sure you want to open it?' The files play just fine, but having to do this everytime I open a new file is getting really tiresome. Does anyone know what the issue is here and how I might go about fixing it?
