Ipod Classic problem

I connected my ipod classic to my computer and a message appeared stating downloading hard drive. The message disappeared and the ipod stopped working, the another message appeared saying the ipod is corrupt. I worked perfectly before connecting to the computer. The ipod won't turn on now. Can anyone help?
