what is flip4mac? how do i use it?

can someone tell me about this? i'm assuming this is something that would allow you to open windows media files?

can someone tell me how to use this?? do i have to download it? does this mean that i can open up a site in safari that contains a windows media file and watch it?

You can actually get it to work on intel macs for the time being (and work 100%) while you wait for the universal version to come out. there are instructions on macosxhints.com, but basically:

download the installer.
go to applications>utilities>installer.app, go to its info and tell it to run under Rosseta--there's a check box.
run the flip4mac installer.
go to applications>utilities>installer.app, go to its info and tell it NOT to run under Rosseta--checkbox.
go to QuickTime.app and click on its info (cmd-I) and tell it to run under Rosseta--same checkbox.

thats it, all ur wmv, avi, etc will open and run under QT. QT will run as a Rosseta app but there is no visible performance decrease, and it's a perfectly happy work around until the company releases universal flip4mac; at which point, u'll just uninstall this one and tell QT to no longer run as Rosseta app.
