    In order for your iPhone to be locatable you have to enabled the 'Find My iPhone' app on it prior to losing it, and it has to be on, not wiped, and able to connect to a network.

     

    The IMEI number can be used by some service providers to block the phone from any further use of any sort, but it cannot be used to locate it.
