Apple service wants me to pay $399 again for a replacement

it's not even been 2 weeks since i got my iPad, i mistakenly dropped it the first day and got a small dent on one of the corners.

Now almost 2 weeks later, just this last night my iPad refused to charge or sync at all, not being dettected in DFU or recovery even.

Apple service guys say that any kind of physical damage is not covered, but those fools didn't get the point that it had nothing to do with the dock connector, i've been using it like that since i got it. I said i can pay for any repairs if they want, but they didn't buy it.

Their final quote on it was that i had to pay $399 for a replacement, ***..!!! i know i can buy it for $399 and still keep this one.

I had always heard about how important customer satisfaction was for Apple service, but believe me after this kind of experience, i would think twice before picking another Apple.

Unfortunately, any visible 'accidental damage' trumps any internal issues. Fair or not, any time there's visible damage it's presumed that it's the cause of any malfunction.

You can try contacting apple themselves and see if you can get anywhere. Or maybe try a different apple store and see if a manager there helps you. But bear in mind, if s/he does they're going counter to Apple's practice of visible damage being the cause.

Not fun but that's how it's been.

You needed to purchase Apple Care Plus. The employess hands are tied since there is this new insurance policy, where before, it was a little more case by case.

you might have gotten an disgruntalled employee.

Having said that, voicing your opinion to 1-800-apl-care as well as trying again with a different store might help you... The thing is, everything is one harmonious piece with the iPad, since the screen and body are glued together. It's not a matter of simply switching out a part.

I'm sorry your custom support wasn't what you expected.

Hahaha, sorry sky diver, I was still writing my post before I saw you comment which is basically saying the same exact thing 🙂
