Dose Mac OS X Lion support SMB2 as a client

Dose Mac OS X Lion support SMB2 as a client?

When connetc Lion to Windows 2008R2,Wireshark shows that connections from Lion(client) to Windows 2008R2(server) are still SMB1.

A packet capture of a Win7 verifies a successful client connection with SMB2.

Another question,

In Snow Leopard,I can get SMB client version by "smbclient -v",but it does not work in Lion,

how can I get the SMB client version in Lion?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.4)

Apple switched from using Samba in Snow Leopard and earlier to an in-house SMB implementation in Lion (and later) because of licensing changes with Samba. As a result, the tools and options for SMB connectivity are limited and there is no way to manually update them to work with new technologies (this lack of manual updating ability without breaking the sharing implementation was why Apple had to pull Samba from its OS). You can still install Samba and use SMB2 and other features, but it won't be interfaced through the Finder and other aspects of Aqua, and instead will only be accessible through the command line.
