i-tunes does not keep music library and playlists after closure

I have upgraded itunes to the latest version on my PC (I use windows 7 ultimate). After opening it starts from scratch with the opening page but does not show my music library and playlists.

I can reload my music library by clicking on "finding AAC files on my computer" but the playlists are gone.

As long as I don't shut down my PC the music library (under the button "music" and newly made playlists are remembered by itunes, even if I close it and open it again.

However, when I open itunes after a restart of my PC itunes will start from scratch again and does not remember the music library and playlists but show the blank opening screen referring to tutorials etc.

I have already tried to uninstall itunes and download and install it again, but the problem remains.

Can anybody help?

Windows 7

This Apple document will probably help ya -> iTunes creates an empty library file in Windows

If you have a Sony Vaio, you might just need to update the Sony VAIO Entertainment Platform.

If not, try eliminating the possible conflicts one at a time using MSConfig.
