How to fax from iMac?

Hi,

I have the small white fax modem from the apple store which plugs into USB and my telephone line. I have used it on many occassion without a problem but now it keeps saying "Waiting for modem to become available..."

Can anyone suggest what I should do please?

Have you tried unplugging it completely and then reattaching it to your Mac? Do a

PRAM RESET

Zap the PRAM

Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

As this may clear a bad signal from the device.

Hi

Did that thank you and got message "You cannot use an Apple USB modem with this computer"

Funny that, it used to work fine (with Snow Leopard and Leopard and Tiger) before I upgraded to Lion. Is that the problem and will Mountain Lion fix it I wonder?
