Jun 29, 2012 3:21 AM in response to mouse1969by RobbieSnr,I'm getting exactly the same message every time my iPad is connected to iTunes, whether by WiFi or USB. As mouse1969 says how on earth can it be necessary to update these settings every time?

Jul 19, 2012 5:13 AM in response to RobbieSnrby nchadha,I have a feeling this problem lies with o2 rather than Apple - I wonder if it's worth contacting them

Jul 22, 2012 4:27 AM in response to mouse1969by lukeoatham,I just spoke to an O2 Guru - who asked me to restart my iPad and is going to switch something off at the O2 end. I will see if it is fixed tomorrow.

Jul 22, 2012 3:41 PM in response to nchadhaby Chris Lorensson,Not me – I'm on 3 in the UK, but having the same problem. Doesn't seem to be daily for me, just every time my iPad is connected to iTunes—whether by USB or WiFi.
By the way, what version Ipad is everyone using, and software?
I'm using the first iPad 3G, software 5.1.1

I'm using an iPad2 3G with the same software, and yes, it's just when I connect by USB or WiFi that I get this message. I'm using the latest version of iTunes on my iMac, 10.6.3.
I see that if I connect by USB, having already accepted the carrier update with my WiFi connection, and click on the Check for Update button I get the same message again about the carrier needing updating!

Jul 24, 2012 6:39 AM in response to RobbieSnrby RobbieSnr,Well I've been on the phone to Apple Support and we tried doing a factory reset but this didn't solve the problem, and the support technician thought it must be a problem with o2 (she had read this discussion!). I've just tried o2 and the chap I spoke to seemed to be aware of the problem and said it wasn't anything to do with them. I menioned that some o2 guru had made some change at their end but he didn't seem to know what that could be. He asked me to check the APN settings on my iPad and they were as they should be. As the SIM card was working all right otherwise he said there were no settings they could change so was sure it was a problem with iOS! I'm now going back to Apple to see what they have to say.
lukeotham, are you still having this problem after that o2 guru made his changes?

Thanks.
Well I've been on to Apple Support again and they say that since I did a factory restore I'd have a virgin copy of the iOS so it can't be a problem with that. I asked about there being a bug in the iOS but he wouldn't hear of this - no one else seems to have complained to Apple about this but I did mention this Discussion Group. All he could suggest is that I try another computer, to do a factory restore again there and then come back to the Mac!
I do have a WIndows XP virtual machine and am trying that just now, to see if this gets rid of the problem, and I'll report back. However it's not everyone that would have the facility to go down this route!
